As part of this month's Recipe Redux, I made these Super Simple Peppermint Cream Candies for the Ladies Ornament Exchange held at a neighbor’s house each year. Based on the empty tray at the end of the evening, I take it that the ladies liked ‘em!
Happy Holidays to you all, and here’s to looking forward to another great year!
1 can (14 ounce) sweetened condensed milk
3 cups (plus a bit more for dusting) powdered sugar
1 tsp (or less) peppermint extract
about 3 ounces dark chocolate
- Mix together the condensed milk, powdered sugar and peppermint in a bowl until a “dough” forms. If still too sticky, add a bit more powdered sugar.
- Pinch about a tablespoon of the dough and roll around in hands to form a ball and place on a wax paper lined cooking sheet. Gently press down with fingers to form a circle.
- In a small microwave-safe bowl, microwave dark chocolate until melted, checking and stirring every 15 seconds (may take about 45 seconds to a minute to melt).
- Drizzle melted chocolate on top of peppermint creams. Allow to cool before serving.
